Expositie Jos van Merendonk – Stichting IK Middelburg

What is a ‘key work’?

‘Key work’ is not only used in the arts, but also in literature, for example. The search for a definition yields a variety of descriptions and views. It is a word that apparently appeals to the imagination.

IK Foundation sees this concept as an interesting starting point for its own research. Artists are invited to reflect on this from their individual perspective and experience. On request, they consider whether the term ‘key work’ has (had) a meaning in their personal development. They translate the outcome of their considerations into a number of works with an explanatory text. In the future, collectors and professionals will also be invited to contribute.

The first visual artist to share his contribution within this series of explorations is
JOS VAN MERENDONK. He shows two large and several smaller works.

From Sunday 24 April 2022 between 2 and 5 p.m. you are most welcome to get acquainted with his thoughts on this theme and the work he has selected for it.

The exhibition can be visited on Saturdays and Sundays between 2 and 5 pm until 24 July 2022. DAM 6 B; MIDDELBURG.
